Booking an online consultation, step by step
Choose phone or video
Most consultations are €34.99 by phone and €39.99 by video; a Performance & Stage Anxiety Consultation is €39.99 by phone and €44.99 by video. Phone suits most problems. Choose video when it helps the doctor to see something — a rash, a swollen joint, an unwell child — or when you’d simply rather see who you’re talking to.
Pick a time
Same-day appointments run from early morning until late evening, seven days a week. The calendar only shows times a doctor is actually available.
Tell us about you
Your name, date of birth, the phone number the doctor should call, the pharmacy you’d like prescriptions sent to, and a few words about the problem. Booking for a child or someone in your care? Add their details and be with them for the consultation.
Pay securely
Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Revolut Pay through Stripe. We never see your card details. Cancel at least 6 hours before your appointment for a full refund.
During the consultation
Phone
The doctor calls the number you gave at the time you booked. Keep your phone to hand, with signal and battery, somewhere quiet enough to talk. The call may show as a withheld or unfamiliar number — please answer it.
Video
Your confirmation email and patient portal carry a Join video consultation link that opens 15 minutes before your time. Run the one-tap camera and microphone check, then join. The consultation runs in your browser — nothing to install.
What the doctor does
Takes a proper history, asks what they need to ask, and decides with you what happens next: treatment, a prescription, a certificate, a referral, or advice to be seen in person. Everything is recorded in your clinical notes.
After the consultation
Prescriptions
Sent electronically to the pharmacy you named, so it’s usually ready by the time you get there. Controlled drugs are never prescribed on OlaDoc — no exceptions.
Notes, certificates and letters
Issued as signed PDFs, emailed to you and stored in your patient portal. Each carries a QR code and reference number; anyone can confirm it is genuine at oladoc.ie/verify.

Every booking email links to your portal. View your consultations, download documents and receipts for your health insurer, reschedule, or cancel.
Timing, cancellations and refunds
If you cancel
More than 6 hours before your appointment: full refund, automatically. Inside 6 hours, or once the consultation has started: no refund — a doctor’s time has been set aside for you.
If we can’t reach you
The doctor will try your number more than once. If you can’t be reached during your appointment window, the consultation counts as delivered and isn’t refundable — so please double-check your number and keep your phone close.
If the doctor can’t attend
Rare, but it happens. You’ll be offered the next available time with any OlaDoc doctor, or a full refund — your choice, no questions asked.
The small print that matters
Not for emergencies. Chest pain, breathing difficulty, stroke symptoms, heavy bleeding, a severe allergic reaction: call 112 or 999.
An online doctor can’t examine you. Some problems need hands-on assessment. If that’s the case, the doctor will tell you and point you to the right place.
Ongoing care stays with your regular doctor. OlaDoc is for the problem in front of you today. With your consent, we’ll send a summary of the consultation to your own doctor so nothing falls through the cracks.
