Who we are
OlaDoc.ie is an Irish online doctor service. You book a time, and a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council talks to you by phone or video, treats what can be treated remotely, and sends prescriptions straight to your pharmacy.
OlaDoc is operated by IE HEALTHNOW LIMITED (CRO 805729, registered office: 5 St Patrick’s Close, Kilkenny, Ireland), an Irish telehealth company that also runs other online doctor services. OlaDoc is where we are building the next thing: doctor home visits, coming county by county.
Your doctors
Every doctor on OlaDoc holds registration with the Irish Medical Council, carries their own professional indemnity, and works to the Medical Council’s Guide to Professional Conduct and Ethics, including its guidance on telemedicine. You see the doctor’s name and registration number when you book, and on every document they issue.

How we practise
Prescribing
Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose, never handed over as a printout that could be altered. The doctor prescribes only what is safe to prescribe without an examination, and controlled drugs are never prescribed on OlaDoc.
Your records
Every consultation is documented in a clinical record held securely. Records are kept for the periods Irish medical-records guidance requires. With your consent, a summary goes to your regular doctor.
Knowing our limits
An online doctor can’t lay hands on you. When a problem needs an examination, a test, or an emergency department, our doctors say so plainly and tell you where to go — and you keep the referral letter.
What we will never do
Charge you off the books
You pay once, online, when you book. No doctor will ever ask you for money during or after a consultation. If one does, they are not ours — tell us at once.
Prescribe controlled drugs
Sleeping tablets, benzodiazepines, strong painkillers and similar medicines need in-person care. We don’t prescribe them online, full stop.
Stand in for an ambulance
If you describe an emergency, the doctor will tell you to call 112 or 999 rather than carry on with an online consultation.
Home visits are coming
The house call used to be part of Irish medicine, and we think it should be again. OlaDoc is onboarding Garda-vetted, IMC-registered doctors to visit patients at home — starting in Dublin, then county by county. Until your county is covered, an online consultation is the fastest way to reach one of our doctors. Read more about home visits.
