Who we are and how we work
OlaDoc.ie is an at-home diagnostic testing service for people in Ireland. You order a kit, take a sample at home, post it to a laboratory, and a GP registered with the Irish Medical Council reviews and explains your results.
Who operates this service
OlaDoc.ie is operated by IE HEALTHNOW LIMITED, which also operates DocOnCall.ie and DoxOnCall.ie. Those are online GP consultation services; OlaDoc.ie is our at-home testing service. Same company, different service.
We state this plainly because you deserve to know who you are dealing with when it concerns your health, and because a group of health brands that look independent but are not is exactly the sort of thing that erodes trust.
Who reviews your results
Every result is reviewed by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council. Registration is publicly verifiable on the IMC register.
Our doctors are general practitioners. That shapes what we can responsibly offer: we screen, interpret and advise, and we refer onward when something needs a specialist or an examination we cannot do remotely.
Our laboratory
Laboratory partner details, accreditation and turnaround times will be published here before OlaDoc.ie begins accepting orders. We are not going to name a partner or claim an accreditation before it is contracted and verifiable.
When we do publish it, you will be able to see which laboratory processes your sample and what it is accredited to. Most at-home testing services in Ireland do not tell you this. We think that is the wrong way round — it is your sample and your data.
Your data
Health data is special category data under GDPR and we treat it that way. Your sample is identified to the laboratory only by the reference number on your kit. Results are held securely and are not sold, shared for marketing, or used to target advertising at you.
You can request a copy of your data or ask us to erase it. Our privacy policy sets out how.
What we will not do
- We will not sell you a test you do not need. If a symptom needs examining rather than measuring, we will tell you to get examined.
- We will not return a number without an interpretation.
- We will not claim an accreditation, a partner or a turnaround time we cannot evidence.
- We will not present ourselves as a replacement for your own GP.
Emergencies
This service is not for emergencies and is not monitored around the clock. If you are seriously unwell, contact your GP, go to an emergency department, or call 112 or 999.
